About

me-booksI have a varied background for sure. Though I have 15 years experience doing software development, I started out in college doing Fine Arts, e.g. drawing, painting, mixed media, and so on.  After 3 years or so in that field of work, I took up Computer Science and software development and have been there ever since.

I have worked in a number of different companies and corporate cultures, from small, agile teams with all the resources they need at their finger tips to giant, geographically dispersed teams in behemoth bureaucracies where you have to fill out a form to get the status on your previous form! In these environments I’ve worked across a number of vertical markets, such as telecom, billing, finance and shipping/receiving.  I’ve worked with a number of primary languages, such as C/C++, Perl, Javascript and PHP – as well as other smaller, useful languages such as Javascript, Awk, Sed, Expect and the Unix shell. And, unfortuantely, I’ve also worked with Java. But that’s a story for another time at a bar, maybe.

Anyway, these experiences, including my art background, influence my software development style very heavily and provide me with a wealth of background to bring to any software team, company or development task.
